Two years ago to this date, Russia began its brutal full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In response, the European Union, United States, United Kingdom, and other allies of Ukraine imposed unprecedented sanctions on the aggressor, including in the areas of energy, trade, and finance. While economic warfare has been a critical element of the foreign policy toolbox for hundreds of years, such comprehensive measures had never been placed on a country this integrated into the global economy.
